Endless Opportunities
I’m sat staring at a blank Word file, writing the first blog post to introduce my new business, Atom Business Performance.
This is the bit that I find really hard. A blank piece of paper has infinite stories that could be written on it. So many opportunities that may come to fruition, or may be lost – or may not make the cut when compared to others. The feeling of overwhelm and responsibility to get it right is almost paralysing.
So I’m going to talk myself through the steps that I’d take as if I were working with a client… we break it down, hand hold, talk around bits, try things out, stick ideas down and most of all, not be afraid to get it wrong.
The Process
I’ve already been through a process of working out what I want, what I love doing and how I’m going to deliver this, and created the business values , mission and vision (I’ll write other posts on how I came up with those later), so now it’s onto a few sentences that describe what we do – the dreaded elevator pitch.
What do we do?
We help business owners to get the best from their business and themselves.
We work out what makes your business tick, what you want to achieve and then put a plan in place to make it grow and do brilliant things - and we hand-hold along the way.
Some of the work pieces will be done by us, but fundamentally, it's about helping you to be able to recognise the business needs and drivers, and how to use those to build a successful, sustainable business.
Review
Now, this has taken about 6 iterations, 3 cups of (admittedly decaf) coffee, a jammy Wagon Wheel and several messages on FB Messenger to a couple of business friends to sense check.
Does it sound like ‘me’?
Yes, I think it does (I have read it out loud several times, the dog agrees)
Does it tell people what I do?
Yes – and gets bonus marks for using simple language
Does it align with my values?
Yes, there are a couple mentioned in there, and it touches the rest
Can I see myself doing what I have written?
Yes – it sounds like Playdoh for grownups – perfect!
